Site
Develop the OHS center. Be a role model.
As a volunteer, your role on the OHS site will be comprised of two responsibilities:
- Sustainable development and day-to-day function of the site.
- Being a role model and friend to the children living on-site.
Site Development
OHS currently has 6 acres of land in beautiful Mateves village, just outside of Arusha, Tanzania. The original 2.5 acre facility consists of 9 traditional Maasai mud homes to house staff, a central meeting and open-fire area, and a 3600 square-foot children’s home. The new acreage is being developed into the OHS community center that engages the eight UN Millennium Development Goals. As a volunteer you will be working on this land, so it is important to recognize your connection with it. Volunteers are responsible for assisting in the sustainable development and daily function of the site. This may range from simple chores such as watering plants to large-scale construction projects. Environmental sustainability is a crucial aspect of our work.

Child Development
Our home on site houses Tanzanian children who have been abandoned or orphaned, often from the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Volunteers will have scheduled hours of interaction with the children on our site, and will primarily be responsible for planning after-school activities with the kids. This may include teaching English, art projects, soccer games, and much more.
