The carefree twins of the house, whose names mean Blessings and Praise, have an undeniable jovial and effervescent spirit that leaves us all with smiles on our faces. It’s hard to keep up with this active duo!

Mudy

 

As the oldest of the family, Juma is one of the big brothers of the house and plays the role well. He is helpful and kind, but also very outgoing and loves to act and entertain. In addition he likes to play soccer, sing, study, and says he wants to be a soldier when he is older.

Angelina

 

Like his older brother Juma, Ema is amiable and playful. He is always helping out in the garden and playing with the younger children.

Assuming the motherly role in the house, Mariamu is considerate and helpful. She is also easy going, independent, and likes to study. She says wants to be a pilot when she grows up.

Faraja

Like a little ninja, Faraja is fierce and full of life. Yet at the same time his name means “comfort”, which is pertinent to his charming character. Faraja wants to be an electrician when he grows up.

Miriam

Miriam is both outspoken and shy, depending on her mood. She likes to jump rope and wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She says the best part of being a member in the OHS family is that “everyone cooperates with each other.”

Lightness

Not only is she strong and bright like her name implies, but Lightness is also mature, a very hard worker and wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Niko

The free-spirit of the house, Niko is rousing, cunning, and spunky. He is often found making jokes or entertaining us with his smooth dance moves. This energetic boy is always moving and wants to be a driver when he grows up.

Maiko

Often times seen with a book in hand, Maiko loves to read, garden, and dreams of being a pilot when he grows up.

Simon

He may seem reserved at first, but once you get to know Simon he is very playful and vivacious. Like his older sister Lightness, he is a hard-worker and very adaptable.

Ibrahim

The youngest member of the OHS family, Ibrahim is a very serious baby who enjoys eating.

Emanuel King

One of the youngest in the house, Ema is incredibly observant and friendly. Even though he is only a toddler, he holds an air of maturity and sophistication…and already proclaims that he wants to be a soccer player when he grows up.

Irene, age 9, arrived at the One Heart Source Home in January 2010, when her surviving relatives were unable to offer her adequate care. Irene currently attends Upendo Friends School, where she studies in the Standard Four class. She loves her studies in the sciences, but also excels in English, and is fluent in both Swahili and English. Irene is also very sweet and mature, relating well to people of all ages. She loves to spend time with her older sisters baking, drawing, doing arts-and-crafts projects, and playing outside. Irene wants to be a doctor when she grows up, and we know she will do amazing things with her life.
