Credimus (Latin: for we believe)

Signifying a token by which persons of like beliefs might recognize each other.

One Heart Source looks to provide a fighting chance for the most marginalized children in the world. In this struggle it is important to remember that the process will be given as much weight as the result. At no point will ANY member of OHS enter this effort with a mindset of superiority helping the helpless. We are active members of humanity that refuse to believe in any explanation that validates the current realty in which millions of children do not have the basic right of LIFE. With this in mind we have created an efficient and effective system to begin empowering those who have been abandoned, neglected, and discounted. We are the voice for those who cannot be heard. Our view is that of one people that operate under a sole motivation of one love. Sustainable empowerment is the means by which we fight and remain in harmony with nature and each other. In the words of the great King, Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it. Our passion is rooted deeply in the deliverance of social justice and we have a common understanding that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.  Although the very fact that every 5 seconds a child dies of starvation in the world creates a driven fury for actualizing change, we remember that we must always reach the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force, while never forgetting the fierce urgency of now!

Quoting the Greats – why we choose these words to represent us

We stand on the shoulders of greatness before us. We have inherited a world that is headed in a misguided direction. If we do not do everything we can in our power to make right, who will? We will not stand by and let rights to a fair life be trampled. We continue to honor that which needs to be—values of love, respect, fortitude—the sweat of any man working with dignity to feed himself and his family, the child who does not lose hope on a hopeless life handed to him, the educator and the leader who chooses his profession for the greater good, the mother who does not let hunger drive apart her family and its values. These values are embodied in the words of good people before us to guide us forward.

Why the masaai tree?

We call the acacia tree the masaai tree because it is the characteristic break in the flat dry highlands of the East African Masaai people—the place where OHS now calls home.

The masaai tree is unusual in many ways. It is often seen standing alone growing in some of the most difficult soils on earth, subject to intense dryness, heat, and surviving for months without rainwater. As if in an act of defiance to nature, the masaai tree flowers in the dry season, when all other plants are subdued. It represents to us the resilience and the will to live despite the odds against it, and the strength and beauty to give back--it is the provider of shade and relief in unyielding flatlands.
